What Readers are Saying

Fantastic and Insightful read. Practical and Engaging.

I rarely write reviews, but Living Parkinson’s by Steve Yellen truly deserves every one of these five stars.

What sets this book apart is its honesty and humanity. Yellen doesn’t just describe Parkinson’s disease—he brings you into the lived experience with clarity, vulnerability, and even moments of humor. Whether you’re someone diagnosed, a caregiver, or simply trying to understand the condition better, this book offers both practical insight and emotional resonance. Steve is able to translate the advice given my experts into plan that is practical.

I especially appreciated how the author balances realism with hope. He doesn’t sugarcoat the challenges, but he also doesn’t let them define the entire journey. There’s a steady undercurrent of resilience and adaptability that feels incredibly empowering.

The writing is accessible and engaging, making complex or difficult topics easier to grasp without ever feeling oversimplified. It feels like guidance from someone who genuinely understands what you’re going through.

If you’re looking for a book that informs, supports, and inspires all at once, this is it. Highly recommended.

Strategies that will provide a supporting grid for years to come

I just finished the newly released book titled Living Parkinson’s by Steve Yellen. As I skimmed the chapters, I realized that many of the experiences and approaches of Steve reflect my own 13-year journey with Parkinson’s. However, Steve has approached topics like research with more rigor than me. He has demonstrated a commitment to make optimal use of his time, fighting the disease in an organized, deliberate an intense manner. Specifically, he looks for opportunities to challenge himself through goals and experiences that push him closer to the limit. I believe that his experiences in the first six years of his disease have given him some structure to navigate the next six years.

Steve’s discussion of self-efficacy, to believe in one’s ability to succeed in specific situations is a core theme of the book. I read the book realizing Steve has a gift of making informed decisions to slow his progression, and that by starting strategies early in his journey, he is taking initial steps that will continue to help in years to follow. He has set the stage for maximizing wellness, and thank him for sharing these strategies with others in the Parkinson’s community.

Roadmap for Fighting Back

I recently read Steve Yellen’s book Living with Parkinson’s and truly enjoyed it. Although I do not have Parkinson’s myself, I have family members who are living with the disease, which made the book especially meaningful to me.

Yellen shares his personal journey of confronting Parkinson’s and thoughtfully distills the strategies that helped him fight back against the progression of the condition. What makes the book particularly compelling is that many of these strategies are not limited to Parkinson’s—they can apply to anyone determined to confront health challenges or improve their overall well-being.

One of the most powerful reminders throughout the book is that the battle often begins with the mind: cultivating a resilient, positive attitude and a willingness to keep pushing forward.

I would highly recommend this book not only for those affected by Parkinson’s, but also for anyone who wants to better support a loved one or simply find renewed motivation and perspective in their own life.

Parkinson's Strategies for Living a Full Life

It seems now-a -days that everyone knows someone with Parkinson's Disease. Friend, relative, neighbor, co-worker, and on and on. And with the seeming proliferation of the disease comes a thirst for knowledge and direction in coping with it. That's where Steve Yellen's refreshing new book comes in! It's called Living Parkinson’s, and I can't put it down. It is easy to understand and strategic in its approach to give guidance, educate and comfort to those who have been diagnosed with this modern-day monster of a disease. Much information is out there, and this book is just in time! It is so well organized and breaks into meaningful, easy to read chapters that explain potentially difficult to understand information. It’s not just a “How To” book but brings us along with the author on his personal journey of self-discovery giving us a real plan and purpose for the days ahead. As a diagnosed Parkinson’s patient for the last ten years, I highly recommend this book! Well done Mr. Yellen.
